Sitting on my lap

The sisters were a bit impressed by my lap, so I took a soft blanket and that helped quite a bit. Poppy is the kind of kitten that freezes in place (not tensed, but almost like she's playing dead), but with the help of her big sister, she started to relax more. Nala has a will of her own, if I put her on my lap she jumped back into the bench, and then turned around to come on my lap herself :O

Frozen in place Poppy :(

But there's Nala, and she's also a bit scared but more brave too!

Both more relaxed :) I think this was one of the first times I heard Nala's purr, she will at times purr with me, Poppy still hasn't given me a proper purr, only 1 so soft that I'm doubting if it was a purr even. I know she has a loud one too though, Dew has less issues with making her purr!

Poppy does like cuddles though, but only when she's sleepy, then she can snooze in the weirdest positions on me <3 If she's awake, she still avoids me :( I can't blame her though, I still put cleaner in her ears on a daily base, and last 2 days I had to deworm them as well (giving the pills directly into their mouth). It saddens me to see the sisters still a bit scared of me, I think they also affect each other with that, but oh when they do give in to cuddles... :L

Nala all of a sudden wondered about the camera part of my phone...

Slap! :O

That face, lol!

She then wondered about my hand, what is that thing?

Can I eat this?

I'm not pulling my hand back, because that might trigger her playful side, and I don't want her to link hands to playing (having Munchy doing so is more than enough! >.<)

And here it shows why these cuties were still in a bench, they might look adorable and social, but this was within minutes from the previous pic. I wanted to pet her in the bench, she didn't want any of it, so I showed it was my hand which wasn't scary, remember little one? Little one disagreed xD

She doesn't slap anymore though, nor does she chew on my hand, she realized quickly I'm not edible and I'm not thát scary that I need to be slapped either!

Munchy cuddles!

These pics are from one of the first days here (and are the worst quality of them all I'm afraid), upstairs where she had benchrest. I only let her out for a couple moments every day, and then only to cuddle with me, and to eat, not to run around. It's so sad to leave a kitten locked up like that :( Her leg isn't doing so well unfortunately, the benchrest did help, but within minutes after being out of her bench for the first time, it didn't show anymore. All that's left is that she puts her leg in the right position when she eats, and it doesn't dangle as badly behind her as it did, but she's dragging it and it pulls her out of balance. I'm worried it'll get damaged from the dragging, and it seems to be more in the way than actually helping her, so we'll meet the vet soon again, see what she thinks.

Here's how it was right at the start, she just left it behind her.

Her claws on the other hand, are more than fine! Looks like she has a set of talons even!

Luckily she's more gentle when grabbing me - most of the time at least...

On the few moments where I had her out, she always climbed in my neck and sat on my shoulders. Never long though, Munchy can't sit still!

I was afraid she'd go for my earring here, haha! Wouldn't be the first time a kitten wonders what those shiny things are! So I wanted to gently move her back a bit with my hand...

And then she showed once again, why I called her Mumchy. She chews and nibbles and eats everything!

Unfortunately this is a habit that she's very stubborn with, what can I say, she just loves to nibble! Add those little sharp claws and I don't think she'll be the most ideal kitten for someone with young children if she keeps this up!

But here's the other side, she loves to cuddle faces as well :L

Luring Nala out the bench

Time for some serious catching up! Loads of pics incoming, spread over a few posts, and I apologize for the quality in advance. I made a lot of them with my phone, and a bunch of them with the frontcamera of my phone, with bad light even. But luckily it doesn't make these sweeties any less cute :)

Starting with the sisters! I gave Nala a matatabi stick through the bench, and she reacted to it straight away...

Then I figured to try out one of the strongest valerian toys I have. It stinks so badly but cats usually love that stuff! Nala did so too :)

I wanted to see how brave she would get with a little stinky help, and held the toy outside of the box she was in. het first reaction was to stay hidden and pull it in...

That didn't work, maybe bite and drag it in?

Mmmm, such an interesting thing! ^_^

I threw it on the ground outside the bench, and there she came!

Poppy found it all very interesting to watch, but as usual, she stayed behind

Seeing her big sis so relaxed did help her as well, and when I sat at my desk and looked to the side, I saw something weird in the box...

Silly Poppy! :D

Always the big pupils, she kept those for quite some time during her stay, and still has them fairly often

Nala was a lot more relaxed after her stinky adventure :)

Getting petted...

The shelter uses special blankets for benches nowadays, not sure on the English name, but they're used for small children (boxkleed in Dutch). While I was paying attention to the kittens, I noticed something strange about the spare blankets...

Not a kitten, but cute nevertheless! :L

I started petting Nala, and I guess her face says it all, haha!

"Kinda nice, but I'll keep looking grumpy!"

Moving a toy on the other hand, was a big hit straight away!

Poppy also wondered what that moving thing was (and yes, they knocked over their food, something they often do in the bench. If I put it in a nicer spot for them, near the sides, it's also a nicer spot for Dewdew :D)

Nala checked it all out from above, while Poppy enjoyed the moving toy! And so their socialization began :)
